Start time

Duration

7 h

9:00am: After breakfast, you will meet Mary Angela and head to an original handcraft cashmere factory in the Trasimeno lake area.

Over the centuries, Umbria has always been renowned for the art of knitting and cashmere manufacturing is nothing but the modern interpretation of this ancient loom weaving craft.

Nowadays Umbria is, in fact, one of the most important cashmere and wool making hubs in Italy and it is internationally known of its high quality clothing. Most specifically, it is by the Lake Trasimeno area, also known as the cashmere valley, where you have the biggest concentration of large, small, and micro family run cashmere enterprises of the region.

Once at the factory, you will meet Elisa, one of the owners, who will show you the sampling room, where all cashmere and knitwear prototypes are put together, and the production room, where the mechanical weaving looms are located. You will have a sneak peek on how a real Made in Italy family run fashion company works and how, starting from yarns, cashmere is woven into luxurious textiles, patterns and clothes. Once your factory tour is over, you will have time to browse around the store where you will find unique high quality style pieces, all entirely made in this facility.

12:30pm: You will then head to San Feliciano, one of the cutest villages overlooking the lake area, for a picture taking stop. The hamlet is, in fact, famous for its spectacular sunsets and for its peaceful views over the three lake isles: Isola Maggiore, Isola Minore, and Isola Polvese. Hidden gem of this area, San Feliciano is also known for its active fishermen community.

1:00pm: You will get to Monte Petriolo, another lovely hamlet of the lake area, for a nice and refreshing light lunch at a local organic winery. You will meet Alessia, one of the owners, who will walk you through the family estate and vineyards.

Since she is a natural winemaker, she lets the grapes speak for themselves. No pesticides or chemical products are used on the vines, and her wines are untouched by heavy filtration and additives. Each bottle is, in fact, a pure expression of her deep love for the land.

After the visit, wine will be served and paired with a great variety of nibbles such as: pizza bread topped with caramelized onions and mortadella, homemade chickpeas seasoned with extra virgin olive oil and rosemary and a nice charcuterie board including crispy torta al testo flatbread.

4:00pm: End of the tour and farewell to Mary Angela.
