Travel back to Medieval times for an incredible paper-making workshop and enjoy a cozy wine tasting lunch overlooking the Montefalco area.

9:00am: After breakfast, you meet your tour leader Mary Angela to head to the lovely medieval town of Bevagna, one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy.

9:30am: Since Bevagna, also called Mevania, was one of the most important commercial centers during the Roman Empire, a lot of old ruins are still present in its historical center.

You will visit the ancient thermal spas where Romans would gather to talk about politics, business and philosophy and, once here, you will meet Valeria, the museum’s manager.

She will walk you through the spas mosaics and thoroughly explain its designs describing scenes from nature and mythology.

10:00am: You will continue exploring the town and reach the fascinating Gaita San Giovanni, where artisans still make paper exactly as they did in the Middle Ages. During a live demonstration, you will discover the traditional techniques and tools once used by local craftsmen, having an authentic glimpse into medieval artistry. Gaita San Giovanni is just one of the four historic neighborhoods into which Bevagna is divided into during the Mercato delle Gaite.

This is an annual festival where the old Medieval way of living is recreated. For an entire week in June, the whole historical center is converted into an outdoor market where local artisans are dressed in Medieval customs and showcase their crafts to visitors.

12:00am: You will head to Montefalco, one of the most important wine making towns of the region, and drive through the incredible Strada del Sagrantino. A stunning and highly scenic route, the Sagrantino Way is named after the renowned local grape variety, whose wine was traditionally served by clergymen during Holy Mass.

You will stop at a local winery where lunch will be served. Once here, you will meet Paolo, one of the owners, who will guide you through a unique wine tasting experience of their best wines, all perfectly paired with mouthwatering local delicacies.

4:30pm: End of the tour and farewell to Mary Angela.
